Publisher’s Privilege

By Brad Bentley

We probably shouldn’t do this, but we will anyway. We’re the publisher after all. What we have done is pre-empt the article for this month’s “The Hire Road.”

Derek Hinton writes an article every month for this publication in “The Hire Road” section. This year, at the Louisville Mid-American Truck show, the Truck Writers of North America (TWNA) Awards ceremony was held for 2005. Derek was awarded the gold medal for magazine editorial for his Identity Theft article that appeared in Driving Force Magazine last June. Over the past year, Derek has written articles concerning employment history, driving records, criminal records, hazmat qualifications and motor vehicle accidents. (You can read all of these back issues at http://www.drivingforcemag.com/ ). These topics are geared to drivers and company recruiters and safety personnel.

It’s not just Derek and The Hiring Line either. Every month, Driving Force magazine contains other columns from talented and experienced trucking writers.

Driving Force Magazine is published by American Graphics Group (AGG). Our goal is to provide content i.e., information that is valuable to drivers and motor carrier recruiting, safety and management personnel. To that end, every month we have articles dealing with compliance, legal, technical and other subjects that are critical to drivers and companies. AGG also publishes RPM Magazine and Big Rig Owner.

Aside from the content in our books, we also try to provide content (including the articles that appear in our books) and will soon be upgrading our websites. This will not be a makeover, but an extensive overhaul that offer new content and function for drivers and companies. More announcements will be forthcoming.

In any event, congratulations again to Derek, be watching for some great new tools on our website and thank you for your readership.
