1. How does DOTJobHistory help me?
- Use DOTJOB as a career tool to review, correct and store your personal information that is used to affect your ability to obtain the employment you want.
- Use DOTJOB in your job search to confirm yourself as a verified and bona fide candidate. No longer do employers have to wonder whether your application is among high percentage of all applications that contain falsifications or omissions. If your AppPak is from DOTJobHistory, the employer knows you are for real. The very fact that you are coming forward to have your background verified separates you from drivers who have something to hide. You are distinguished from other drivers for the top-notch jobs.
- You are able to obtain a conditional job offer faster than a driver who does not have DOTJOB. Fast employability.
- You can review, ask for verification or rebut what previous employers say about you before the information is provided to a prospective employer and the damage is done.
- You can be prepared to address past negative employment experiences when you interview through the power of knowing what previous employers are reporting.
- You can determine what information "if any" appears on the National Driver Register about you and make this information available to potential employers. You have the power of knowing what a potential employer will see.
- You can have a verified employment history even if a past employer goes out of business or merges with another business. Your past employment is verifiable.
- You may use DOTJOB's tools to forward your qualifications to the best companies to improve upon your current situation. This gives you more marketability and employment options.
- Criminal record databases are becoming commonplace in their use by motor carriers and other employers. You will be able to order your own national criminal record database report and discover problems before the information is provided to an employer. Many criminal record databases lack comprehensive identifiers and you can insure you are not wrongly identified as having a criminal past.
- A driving career and CDL qualification–whether attained through paying for a driving school or years of experience–is a critical asset too important not to manage. You can be proactive with your career.

2. Why is this service valuable to me?
There are hundreds of thousands of applications on the Internet, and they all have one thing in common--they all depend upon what people choose to say about themselves. Yet employers know that up to 30% of applications contain serious misrepresentations or omissions. Thousands of driver applicants call companies to apply for a job–but they don't have supporting information for the experience they provide. They are sometimes unaware if the company verified their information or what information they received.

3. What types of information are included?
DOTJOB currently provides an MVR (in most states), an Identity Authentication/SSN Screen, a criminal record database search that includes sex and violent offender records, and if requested, a "DAC" report. If provided with a notarized release from you, we will also check the National Driver Register. You can obtain more information about this information here.
DOTJOB also verifies employment including dates of service, equipment operated, drug and alcohol history as well as education if you sign up for the Premium Service. These verifications comply with DOT requirements regarding background investigations.

4.
How does it work?
Upon your registration, DOTJOB will begin obtaining all the information for your AppPak. Some of the information will be available in minutes to hours, other information can take longer.
If you register under the premium service for us to manually verify information outside of your MVR, DAC, SSN and Infraction/Criminal database scan, please be aware that DOTJOB cannot guarantee that information is always available. For example, if an employer has gone bankrupt, moved, merged or has destroyed or cannot locate records, information may not be possible to obtain. That is why the following steps are critical:
Step 1: Provide us with sufficient information to perform a verification.
For employment verification, DOTJOB needs at a minimum the company name, city/state, contact person and phone. DOTJOB will furnish tools to help you in this task if you do not already have them. IF THIS IS AN EMPLOYMENT WHERE YOU KNOW THE COMPANY HAS BEEN SOLD, IS OUT OF BUSINESS, HAS MERGED, OR IS OVER 2 YEARS OLD, please provide us with all available information but also be prepared to have acceptable backup paperwork.
Step 2: Watch your email account.
DOTJOB will e-mail you if we are unable to locate or contact your former employer. if there is any reason that information is not available. Please check your e-mail for our communications and confirmation of verification. Verification typically takes 2-7 business days.
Please do not order verifications for which you have no supporting documentation.

5.
Why are there two subscription fee levels?
At $39.00 per year you are paying to have a MVR (in most states), an Identity Authentication/SSN Screen, a criminal record database search that includes sex and violent offender records, and if requested, a "DAC" report. If provided with a notarized release from you, we will also check the National Driver Register. You can obtain more information about this information here.
For $109.00 per year, in addition to the above, DOTJOB will also verify your last 3 years of driving school and/or employment history as well as any additional employers from whom you terminate during the course of the year.

6. How does DOTJOB get this information?
DOTJOB obtains the information using those companies most utilized by employers so that you may see what they see.
5Back to Top
7. How long does it take?
DOTJOB normally has the basic information (MVR, ID/SSN authentication and Infraction/Criminal record scan) within an hour or two of receiving it. The "DAC" report varies and depends on HireRight/DAC but is typically in your account in 5 to 10 days.

8. What happens if you cannot get the information?
DOTJOB cannot guarantee that information is available. Sometimes it just is not possible to get all of the information one would like. For example, if an employer has gone bankrupt, moved, merged or has destroyed or cannot locate records, information may not be possible to obtain.
5Back to Top
9. What happens if I disagree with some of the information?
There may be occasion when you disagree with information obtained by DOTJOB. Here is how that works:
- If you do not agree with it, contact the past employer, school or organization to resolve the differences. This is very important--DOTJOB just obtains the facts. We cannot resolve discrepancies or mediate disputes. We can only report what we are told or discover.
- In the meantime, you can attach your version of the events to the information received from the employer.
- Once the disagreement is resolved, contact DOTJOB to request a FREE re-investigation. DOTJOB will then re-contact the employer, school or organization to obtain the information, and will update its records accordingly.
- If you still disagree with the information, even after a re-verification, you still have your version attached to the record so that a potential employer sees both versions of events up front.
- In addition, remember that an employer will only receive the information in your portfolio when you provide them with the access information.

10. What happens if I agree with some of the information, but not all of it? Can I suppress the information from the employer with whom I disagree and allow the rest to be provided?
The best way to tackle a problematic past employment is to address it. Hiding or attempting to hide a past employer is generally illegal under DOT regulations, leaves a gap in your employment history and frankly, typically doesn't work. The company will usually discover the falsification and not even consider you because you falsified your work history.

11.
How far back should I go when creating verifications?
DOTJOB verifies the past three years of employment, regardless of number of employers. (There may be information going back 10 years on your "DAC" report.)
5Back to Top
12. How private is my information?
DOTJOB has a very simple privacy policy — it is your information and you control what we do with it. Therefore, we only obtain information you request, and release it only when you authorize us to do so. In between, it stays safe and secure in our servers, which have state of the art protection. For the information to be given to anyone, you must:
- Give an employer permission to verify the information through DOTJOB. This is your information. You may give a company your access code so that they may obtain your information or you can simply use DOTJOB for safekeeping.
5Back to Top
13. What is an Access Code?
An Access Code is a code word you designate that you may give to a prospective employer to allow them access to your on-line Verification Report at DOTJOB. Use of an Access Code allows you to protect your information from unwarranted access.
5Back to Top
14. What is a Job Seeker ID?
Your JobSeeker ID is the e-mail address you use to sign up for the service. Your e-mail address is critical. You need to provide this information to a potential employer along with your Access Code so they can look up your verification online. It is also used for all communication between you and DOTJOB.
5Back to Top
15. What happens to my information in the future?
The information stays in the DOTJOB database for your future use while your account remains active. Since DOTJOB is a subscription verified job history site, it can assist you throughout your entire working career. After you find a job, you can simply de-activate any Access Code and no one can look-up your Verification Reports. As a subscriber, when you are in the job market again, you simply go online and reactivate the service at no additional cost. Of course, you may wish to add another verification, such as your last employment — which is covered by your subscription fee.

16. What is the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)?
The FCRA is the federal law that governs the use and collection of information for employment purposes. For an applicant, the most important point is that a consumer reporting agency may not collect or utilize the information without your specific approval. In the event you apply for a job, and you sign a FCRA release, the information is made available by the consumer reporting agency to help you get a job.

17. How secure is your site?
We use a fully protected SSL secured server. It is the same technology used by other sites that contain sensitive and confidential information. Of course, that does not mean that no one could ever break into a secured web site. After all, no web site is 100% guaranteed. Anytime you are submitting personal information over the web, we recommend you check for the padlock in your browser tool bar and check the web address to see if the "http" has changed to "https" which indicates a secured site. We use state of the art procedures to provide maximum protection.

18. Will my information ever be used for marketing?
DOTJOB will not disclose any of your information, including email address information to any other entity for any purpose.
Let’s get specific. Will you ever provide my email address to any low life, miserable, wretched spammers?
No.

19.
How much are the subscription fees?
DOTJobHistory charges $39.00 per year plus the MVR state fee (if applicable) to obtain your MVR, verify and update your Identity Authentication and Social Security Number screen, criminal record database search, and a National Driver Register search. The NDR search does require a signed, notarized release from you on a form we provide. You may read about the premium services and why they interest employers here.
If you choose the premium service, the cost is $109.00 plus the MVR state fee per year and you receive the basic service plus verification of the past three years of employment and/or driving school history and all future employment.
DOTJobHistory is a subscription service. The subscription period is one year. Aside from reviewing past employment references, adding your comments, controlling access to the information and knowing who has seen your information, being a subscriber allows you to update your employment portfolio, obtain the latest public record information and provides you with employment opportunities if your current employment is not what you would wish.
There is no additional fee for additional employment verifications while you are a premium subscriber. During the course of your premium subscription, any new employment verifications are free.

20. How do I decide whether it is worth the price?
That depends on the value you place upon what type of driving job you obtain For years, drivers have been in a situation in which they had no control over what was said about their job history and to whom it was said. By the time they found out what was said about them, the damage was done. For an average of $4 or $5 per month, you now have the ability to be proactive with your career, and influence employer decisions worth thousands of dollars per month.
The goal of DOTJobHistory is to allow you to obtain your own information, correct any errors, accurately complete job applications and then obtain the higher paying job that will repay your DOTJobHistory subscription fee the first morning of your new job. Our email reflects that hundreds of our drivers have done just that.

21. How does
the billing work?
You are charged by a credit card through a secured system, the order is placed, and the information gathering process begins.
5Back to Top
22. Can I change my order after I send it?
The answer depends upon how soon you get the corrected information to us. Because we are providing a service and not a product, the answer is generally NO. Once the order is finalized, we begin working on it and paying for the information you have requested.
5Back to Top
23. Do I receive a discount on my subscription fee if DOTJOB does not get the information?
DOTJOB is a subscription service and if we are unable to obtain a reference through no fault of our own, we do not refund any part of the subscription fee. We made our best efforts on your behalf.
5Back to Top
24. Why are there sometimes extra third-party fees?
Some schools charge a fee to provide DOTJOB (or any employer) with information. There are also some employers who have turned over their records to third party information companies (typically companies that provide payroll services). These companies charge to obtain information. In that event, we charge the same fee DOTJOB is charged. We do not make a profit on third party fees. We will notify you prior to charging a third-party fee.
5Back to Top
25. What about International verifications?
At the current time, DOTJOB can verify employment and education for only the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and English-speaking areas of Canada. Credentials, such as professional licenses, can only be verified if issued in the United States.
5Back to Top
26. What is your refund policy?
Because we are providing a service and immediately purchasing information on your behalf, once an order is placed, it is final. However, if you feel that you are entitled to a refund due to extraordinary or unusual circumstances, please contact our customer service division. They will consider such requests on a case-by-case basis.

28. How is the information made available to employers?
You have several options:
- You may easily "ZAP" your AppPak to companies through selected partners through our free "AppZap" service.
- When speaking with a potential employer, you may provide the potential employer with the DOTJOB website and your personal access codes so that the company may retrieve your information.
- You may also use DOTJOB to create a verified driver certificate that you may include with your job application or attach to your resume. The certificate will have your username and access code you have assigned, so the employer may obtain your information. You can see a short demonstration of this here.
Either way, an employer that views your AppPak will register. That way, when an employer views a report, an e-mail is automatically sent to you with the identity of that employer.
5Back to Top
29. How many different Access Codes can I have?
You can have as many different Access Codes as you need.
5Back to Top
30. Can I change my AppPak and/or Access Codes?
You may add information to your AppPak (Accident report, safe driving award, military discharge, explanation, etc.) But you cannot change e.g., take off a speeding ticket, etc, your AppPak. (However, registering with DOTJobHistory will allow you to see what information is out there so you may take concrete steps to correct it). In addition, you can change your Access Codes at any time as well. For example, if you have used DOTJOB to get the job you want, you can deactivate your DOTJOB Access Code(s) so employers can no longer view your AppPak. Employers attempting to view expired DOTJOB Access Codes will simply see a message indicating that the Access Code is no longer active, and to contact you directly if there are any questions.

40. What is a V-Score?
"VScore" is short for verification score and is a measurement of the level of public record data that confirms the information provided. The fraud and identity theft experts agree that effective identity verification requires verification of several elements of personal identifying information against numerous reliable and up to date sources. A verification system should not only verify individual identifying elements, but should also analyze association between data elements, flagging inconsistencies that may indicate risk. So the V-Score is just a measurement of how well all your data correlates.
A "low" number does not mean a person is operating under a false identity.
It may be there is not enough public record to confirm the data or the person made mistakes while keying in their data.
